Check this out. Good luck with all future endeavours Dave.

Here is my story. Sorry its not very exciting…

During Outwoods first season I went to watch my friend Ian Stephenson's son Conor play on a Saturday morning. The team was being run by Gary Hickman assisted by Ian. Ian asked if I could help coach the goalkeeper as I had been a professional and semi professional goalkeeper when everything was in black and white. I agreed to help out, the keeper improved and the team went on to great things under Garys management. At the end of the season new players came along and the team was split in to Eagles and Hawks. Gary managed Eagles and Ian managed Hawks. Just as I was wondering how I would split my time between the teams Daz Tye called me to ask if I would take on an Under 7 team that included his son Nathan. He must have trusted me if I was to be let loose coaching his own flesh and blood. I took my coaching badge at the same time as Ian Stephenson and have been happily running teams ever since. As I regularly visit family in the North on Sundays I have to hand the Under 10 teams over to another coach. To date I have taken 3 sets of teams from Under 7 up to under 10. I can honestly say that the teams I have been involved have been a credit to Outwoods and their parents. We have always improved and have had cup success along the way too. Some players have gone on to the books of Burton Albion, Derby County and Nottingham Forest.

For the last 7 years I have been assisted by Haroon Rashid. Harry as he is known to us has been a brilliant coach, role model and a tremendous influence on the team and myself. I cannot thank him enough for his time and commitment.

As well as being an Age Group Manager I am also on the OFC Committee. This means that you volunteer (get coopted) to do lots of other things. Daz is brilliant at convincing you that you want to get involved! As one of the oldest members of Outwoods Coaches/Managers/Committee Members I am retiring at the end of 2019/2020 season. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Outwoods and proud to say that I have played a part in helping run the best football club in the BJFL. I think I will miss the involvement but I am looking forward to being a fan. I will always reman an Outwoods FC supporter and I wish them all the very best for the future.

From Ian Stevenson.
Having known Dave for many years we joined Outwoods together in 2011 and for anyone who's met or worked with him since then they'll know that despite being so Northern he really is a decent bloke.

Dave's love for football is unquestionable and his involvement with the club and the time he's given up highlights this as he's done it without having a child playing for Outwoods.

From Chris Ryder.
I have known Dave for around 10 years and had the pleasure of working closely alongside him for this great football club.
Dave and I looked after the U9s through to U11s and worked in tandem with the Eagles and Hawks teams. Dave is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. He simply gives and gives for the youngsters who enjoy playing footie for Outwoods FC. A consummate professional in every session he leads I shall miss him greatly but wish him the very best wishes on his well deserved retirement from bibs, cones and wet weather drills!
Good luck Dave.
